Westfield on Weekends Up Close and Musical series is a number of recital performances by students and faculty from Westfield State University’s Music Department.
Our final concert of the season will be The Westfield Chamber Players on April 27 at 7:00pm in the 2nd Congregational Church. Future concerts will be held in the fall upon the return of Westfield State students and faculty on September 9 (Chamber Music), September 30, October 21 and November 18. Meanwhile, please check out our newest summer event, Westfield's Big Day on August 6.
“What is truly the most unique thing about this series is the interactive format of each evening where the audience helps to reveal the truly distinctive personalities of each musician following their performance” said Bradford. “Our almost standing room only audience was delighted by the passion and professionalism of the students and enjoyed each short discussion immensely.”
“Following our final recital, we look forward to returning with a full calendar in the fall that will provide wonderful opportunities for our students to perform and interact with professional musicians from the community,” Music Department Chair, Andrew Bonacci shared. “Additionally, we are also planning an interactive lecture or two, featuring our faculty discussing and demonstrating musical styles, genres, composers and instrumentation, with dates to be announced.”
Admission is free with the wearing of masks encouraged. This event is limited to the first 50-60 guests with refreshments provided by Westfield on Weekends.
“Up Close and Musical” is partially funded with a grant from the Westfield Cultural Council, a local program of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
WOW’s Creative Arts Center is a program of Westfield on Weekends, a 501 (c)(3) volunteer non-profit which seeks to enhance community life through accessible and affordable programming that celebrates the diversity of life in Westfield.
