Ellen Meeropol's sixth novel, Sometimes an Island, has been recently published and we are thrilled to welcome her to The WOW Center for this book launching presentation, conversation and book signing on March 26, 2026 at 7pm.
Booklist gives it a starred review, stating the novel:
"is a gorgeous and immersive story of family and circumstance, tragedy, and the hard work that leads to triumph."
The evening will feature a wide‑ranging conversation with the author about her writing and creative process, along with selected readings from Sometimes an Island. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A and meet Meeropol during a book‑signing immediately following the program.
The Writers Out Loud series also hosts monthly Open Mike nights on the second Thursday of each month, offering writers of all levels a welcoming space to share their work. The next Open Mike is slated for April 9
Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Ellen is married to Robert Meeropol, the younger son of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. She is a founding board member of the Rosenberg Fund for Children, which was started by Robert in 1990 in honor of his parents' refusal to "name names." Ellen's dramatic script telling the story of the foundation has been produced five times, most recently in Manhattan in June 2013, featuring Eve Ensler, Angela Davis, and Cotter Smith.
We hope you will join us to welcome Ellen to Westfield.
