Interconnections - The Art of Jen Delgado

“INTERCONNECTIONS,”WOW’s NEW GALLERY SHOW CONNECTS AUDIENCES TO THE WORK OF WESTFIELD ARTIST, JEN DELGADO

Westfield on Weekends (WOW) will feature “Interconnections: The Artwork of Jen Delgado” as its first exhibit of the new year from February 1st through April 15th at its Creative Arts Center, 105 Elm Street in downtown Westfield. (Due to the wonderful reception of the community, the display has been extended through April 15.)

The expansive exhibit of more than 50 paintings and illustrations demonstrates Delgado’s use of color and design. She creates geometric patterns and whimsical drawings as she explores the worlds of nature and imagination.

According to the artist, “Interconnections” embodies the idea of connection; birth, death, and everything in between.

“It began as a narrative based on personal experiences, working to convey a memory by drawing an enigmatic figure(s) depicting a place in time. often surround the figure(s) with abstract botanicals in an effort to merge the internal and external worlds," Delgado explained.

“As the work developed, I realized how everything in nature is connected, so I pushed this concept further by removing the figure(s) to focus on building up and then breaking down these connections,” she continued.

A Westfield native, Delgado has been making art for more than 20 years. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting and a Master of Arts degree in Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health from Westfield State University, she has exhibited regionally at a variety of institutions, including the Berkshire Museum, the Jones Library in Amherst, and the Arno Maris Gallery at Westfield State. She is a recipient a 2021 award from the Jerry Goldstein Foundation that honors talented young artists.

Currently, she works as a visiting instructor at Westfield State University and also teaches art to all age levels from her Westfield studio.

“Jen Delgado’s art is a perfect way to kick off a new year of gallery exhibits that we hope will inspire the creativity in all of us,” Kathi Bradford, Center director said.  “The Center has a new coat of paint that complements the explosion of color and design that Jen has created to fill the space.  It’s a joyous, wonderfully accessible show and we look forward to welcoming the Westfield community to the center!”

“Interconnections: The Artwork of Jen Delgado” can be viewed at the Center on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 12pm -3pm, Friday from 6-8 pm and Saturday, 11 am-3pm.  Please contact the center at (413) 579-5967if you would like to see the exhibit at another time.
