The Lanternlight Parade and its Workshops– Saturday, November 24
The Lanternlight Parade is the final event of the Stocking Stroll through downtown streets a day-long happening on Small Business Saturday during which downtown businesses host musicians, costumed characters, sales, special treats and contests.
This year’s “Lanternlight Parade” will feature community groups, giant puppets, floats, Dickens Days spirits and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Parade will wind through the city center and end at Park Square, where the 104th lighting of Westfield’s holiday tree will take place. Mayor Brian Sullivan will be joined by Santa and the Westfield High School Chorale for a community carol sing.
Everyone has a chance to be a part of the Lanternlight Parade line of march. WOW will teach children and adults to learn how to create lanterns for the parade at Santa’s Lantern Making Workshop, held at South Middle School with all materials provided. Families will also have a chance to visit with Santa during the event. Last year’s workshop was attended by over 200 families who subsequently joined the Lanternlight Parade line of march that boasted more than 600 participants, who were applauded by more than 2500 attendees along Elm Street and on the green.
Hosted by Bob Plasse with Jay Pagluica. Listen 6am-8am every Tuesday! Video simulcast cast on Channel 15, community televison in Westfield and on www.atomicradio.us and audio streaming on wskb.org.
