Westfield on Weekends (WOW) has announced the winners for its third annual Tree Jubilee.
Westfield on Weekends (WOW) has announced the winners of its third annual Tree Jubilee. This year’s edition which was held at Roots Athletic Center featured thirty-one trees and wreaths, donated and decorated by area individuals, businesses and organizations. The jubilee hosted an online raffle for the trees and wreaths and their additional prizes accompanying them proved very successful.
“This year we had to reimagine the Tree Jubilee given the pandemic and we have been very pleased with the outcome,” Jubilee Chairperson Lisa Sunderland Burns said. “The space at Roots afforded us a great new location and I think hundreds of folks, who did not have a chance to attend it before, got to see it safely and responsibly.”
“Our virtual component also allowed folks who could not attend in person to see the trees and participate in the raffle, the proceeds of which will be used to continue such popular WOW community events as DecemberFest, PumpkinFest or MusicFest concerts,” Burns continued.
The winners have been contacted and they may pick up their tree on Saturday, December 12 between 10am and 2pm. Should they have difficulty on that day or need to make other arrangements that may contact WOW at westfieldonweekendsinc@gmail.com or 413-579-5967.
“WOW is grateful to the many businesses, organizations, individuals, who donated trees and wreaths and helped to make Tree Jubilee 2020 possible and to those that participated in the raffle,” Burns said. “How fortunate we are to have such a generous and active community.”

The Tree Jubilee is a component of WOW’s DecemberFest 2020 that also includes the Holiday Lights Challenge that is being held through January 1 throughout Westfield and Magic on The Air, a series of holiday programming currently being aired on WCPC (Challenge 15) and archived on YouTube at “Westfield community programming.”
Westfield Bank is the major sponsor of DecemberFest 2020 with additional funding from Lisa Olesak-Sullivan of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, and Joanne Papadamitriou of Keller Williams Realty, as well as in-kind support from Roots Athletic Center; WCPC; WSKB; and Reminder Publishing, the publishers of The Westfield News, The Reminder and Pennysaver. Funding has also been provided with a grant from the Westfield Cultural Council, a local program of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
The third annual Tree Jubilee is a special fundraiser that supports WOW’s community programming and administrative fees. This year, it will take place virtually, as well as at Roots Athletic Center at 181 Root Road, where visitors may view a wonderland of more than 25 trees and wreaths, donated by area individuals, businesses and organizations.
“Since we are unable to predict the state of public gatherings in December, we have designed the jubilee so that folks can remain at home and still participate,” Lisa Sunderland Burns, WOW chair of the event said. “However, we invite everyone to see the trees and wreaths in person for those wishing to visit in person.”
“The large lobby outside of the new offices of Reminder Publications provides a great gallery space for the jubilee that has outgrown WOW’s downtown location on Elm Street,” Burns said. “We are happy to introduce this 100,000 square foot complex to many, who may have yet to see this incredible athletic facility, as well as showing off the recently relocated offices of Reminder Publishing and The Westfield News.”
As in past years, some of the trees and wreaths are designed by their crafters to reflect the work of their businesses or organizations with some, offering additional prizes and certificates within their branches. Raffle tickets will give participants the opportunity to take their favorite tree or wreath home, when the winners are drawn at the end of Tree Jubilee on December 6.
“It is important to note one change from last year,” Burns explained. Raffle tickets may only be purchased and submitted online through WOW’s website at westfieldonweekends.com”
